Longboat Key

Longboat Key is a barrier island village located on the central west coast of Florida. The northern portion of Longboat Key is in Manatee County and the southern portion is within Sarasota County. The island is surrounded by water, with the Gulf of Mexico to the west and Sarasota Bay separating the island from the mainland to the east. The area is a popular resort and second home community, with lush golf courses, fine restaurants, and manicured pedestrian walk ways. Longboat Key has a population of eight thousand permanent residents and grows to twenty thousand residents during the peak tourist season of February through April each year.

Gulf of Mexico Drive is the only main thoroughfare and runs north-south through the island of Longboat Key. The Town is accessed by bascule or draw bridges, from the south by New Pass Bridge connecting Longboat Key and Lido Key and Longboat Pass Bridge on the north connecting Longboat Key to Anna Maria Island. Both bridges connect to secondary roads on the mainland which lead to major regional highways, including Interstate 75, US 41, and US 301. Longboat Key has easy access to Bradenton and Tampa to the north and Sarasota, Fort Myers, and Naples to the south.

Longboat Key has an eleven mile long bicycle lane and wide pedestrian sidewalks, making it a choice destination for people of all ages. There are many shopping and dining options available on the island or within a short drive to Downtown Sarasota or Saint Armand Circle.

There are a variety of single family homes available for sale on the island, either with canal and boat dock access, direct beachfront views, or golf course frontage. New and resale Condos are available as well in many different price ranges.
